You are responsible forsafeguarding this information at all times. Within Level I, the four modes ofsecure electronic processing of classified data are the system high, thededicated, the multilevel, and the controlled mode. The following tablespecifically defines the four security modes:ModeDefinitionSystem highAll computers on the network and connectedperipherals protect data according to therequirements for the highest classification categoryand type of material contained in the system. Thisrequires a security clearance but not necessarily aneed-to-know for all material in the system.DedicatedSpecific users or a group of users with a securityclearance and a need-to-know for the processing of aparticular type of classified material exclusively useand control all of the computers and peripherals on asystem.MultilevelVarious types and categories of classified materialstored and processed concurrently in a computersystem that permits selective access to material byuncleared users and users with differing securityclearances and need-to-know.
