Output DevicesIntroductionMonitorsAfter you enter all the data into the computer and the CPU has had time toprocess the information, it exits the computer through an output device.Monitors, plotters, printers, and film recorders are output devices. Theyprovide the SYSOP with an image or hard copy data.Monitors provide visual feedback of work in progress. The three types ofmonitors are the analog monitor which is similar to a television set butprovides only a video display, the digital monitor which processes data as anumeric value and provides only a textural display, and the multisynchronous monitor which provides both analog and digital information.Multi synchro-nous monitorsMulti synchronous monitors are capable of processing both analog and digitalinformation. They work on any computer system displaying text andgraphics with superb resolution and can vary resolution at the SYSOPdiscretion. Resolution is the number of pixels per inch and is referred to asdots per inch (DPI). The dpi in height and dpi in width define the display ofthe monitor. A 17- or 20-inch monitor rated at 640 by 480 dpi or higher is agood monitor for general-purpose work. This is the type of monitor you willmost likely be using.PlottersPlotters are output devices used for large linear drawings.
