Web pages alsoadvertise products and provide information. Worldwide Internet transmissionis on a network termed the world wide web (WWW). Web pages maycontain internal and external links offering additional information and optionsto viewers.Effective web design requires designers to consider fundamentals such aswho the web page is trying to reach and what are they trying tocommunicate. How much or how little information is appropriate? Howoften will web pages require updating? Will web pages include schedules orphone directories? Individuals who visit or “hit” web sites want to accessinformation quickly. Plan web sites to logically inform and present a positiveimage.Web links are external and internal transfers to other web sites. Externallinks lead web users away from the main web page. On a command webpage, for example, external links may lead the viewer to web sites such asbase housing, BEQs, and other Navy web pages. Internal links lead viewersfurther inside the command into such areas as departments, offices, andshops. Reserve most links for internal transfers to keep web users focusedon the command web site.
