Regulations, ContinuedOPNAVINSTThe purpose of the OPNAVINST 5290.1, Naval Imaging program5290.1, Naval(NAVIMP) Policy and Responsibilities, is to establish a centralized visualImagingimagery activity to supply the regional fleet with audiovisual products. ThisProgram(NAVIMP)centralized shop would function more economically than a cluster ofPolicy andindependent shops and assume accountability and responsibility for allResponsibilitiesaudiovisual and visual information products.Approved VI activities have a five-digit authorization number for finding andbilleting. This number, called a DVIAN number, identifies major commandsand individual activities of the VI community.This instruction requires each shop to submit a visual information reportannually. The visual information (VI) report accounts and justifies fundingand billet assignments.Study this instruction in its entirety.
